Youth Startup, Wednesday September 14th
Current YOUTH SCHEDULE here
6:45pm -9:00pm Wednesday nights
September through May
All youth, grades 7 and up, are welcome to be a part of FLY – First Lutheran Youth. FLY offers a unique, meaningful, safe and authentic Christian experience. Weekly events include relevant and purposeful worship and small group discussion, followed by “What’s your passion?” activities (music, sports, drama, games, cooking) and snacks.
Alternate weeks are for mission and service events and Bring A Real Friend (B.A.R.F.) events.
BELONG
Our faith is a personal gift from Jesus and God designed us to be better together. FLY knows that fun times are the best part of being together.
"May our dependably steady and warmly personal God develop maturity in you so that you get along with each other as well as Jesus gets along with us all."
Romans 15:5 (The Message)
WORSHIP
Our youth worship team leads worship each week under the guidance of Pete, our director of worship. If you have a gift and passion for music and/or singing, you are welcome to join in with the youth worship team. Rehearsals are @ 6:15 pm before Youth begins.
"Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, praise God in the assembly of the faithful."
Psalm 149:1 (NRSV)
In worship, our God of grace, mercy and peace encounters us where we are at, speaks to us, and renews us in faith.
LEARNING
To follow God's direction for our lives, we must know God's Word. Alternate Wednesdays are for dwelling in the Word and hearing what God is up to in the world, giving us hope, possibilities and direction.
"Everything in the Scriptures is God's Word. All of this is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live. The Scriptures train God's servants to do all kinds of good deeds."
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (CEV)
SERVE
Jesus Christ taught and lived this.
"Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave to all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:43-45 (NIV)
We live in a world that is skeptical of the church because Christians don’t always live up to expectations. The gospel is not one of rules and authority but one of caring for others with the love of Christ. We live in a world that needs to experience the love of God’s people.
